30 Days of the Sound of Music: Day 5 - Favourite Captain Von Trapp Moment

This was really hard. Because I love them all. ALL OF THEM. Even when he’s all McGrumpy. But if I had to narrow it down, it would be these two:

1. When he tells Maria he loves her. No flowery analogies, no embellishment, nothing at all. Just direct, honest, as plainly as he could have put it, and to me it’s much more moving and lovely for it’s simplicity. He’s always attempted to hide/deny his feelings for Maria up until now, and it looks as though he’s just decided in that split second to say it out loud, like his brain had no control over it, and I love that, it’s like seeing him with his guard down for the first time. 

2. That embarrassed little shrug he does when he finishes Edelweiss. The moment is clearly awkward, because he and Maria are staring into each others eyes and the Baroness has noticed (whether he realises it or not) and his little shrug is so adorable, because he clearly has no idea what to say or do next now that the song’s over.
